Easter Sunday

I haven't written about the beautiful flowers that decorated the church on Easter Sunday, yet, so I shall do that now.  The lilies were layered in rows on the alter in a lovely cascade of blooms.  The floral arrangement was located just below the cross and because of the placement of the flowers, the eyes of the congregation naturally gravitated to the mounted cross.  There was also a cross that was carried in on the shoulders of several youth and placed in the front of the church.  This floral cross contained blossoms that were handpicked from the gardens of the members of the church and brought to the church on Easter morning.  The floral presentations added to the special celebration of that special day.  In addition to the beautiful lilies and floral cross there was a brass and tympani orchestra that enhanced the outstanding choral presentation of inspiring music sung by the church choir.  The entire service was uplifting.  What a wonderful day to be at St. Mark's.

stacked fruit

I just thought this three tier serving tray of fruit was so beautifully arranged and colorfully pleasing to the eye that I had to take a picture of it.  I just had to.

Old Point Loma Lighthouse

I have written about the old Point Loma Lighthouse in San Diego before but I think this place is so special that it deserves a repeat posting.  When I took this picture the sun was behind me and I couldn't see any image in the camera screen.  The sun's glare had completely blackened the viewing screen.  I basically took a blind picture and hoped I would capture the beauty of this setting.  When I moved to a shaded area and had the opportunity to review the pictures, I was delighted to see everything clearly from the multi-toned clouds to the stark white building and even the unfurled flag.  What a stroke of luck.  The wind was gusty and it picked up the flag just as I snapped the picture.  The lighthouse is located above the entrance to San Diego Bay and looks out over the magnificent Pacific Ocean.  There are benches placed along the pathway for sitting comfortably while pondering the beauty of this location or, maybe, just for dozing off under the warm sun.  History and beauty...together.

a painted car

Here's what to do with an older model Volvo station wagon.  Just paint the yellow and blue Swedish flag on the hood and you're good to go.  chug-a  chug-a
